Our researchers participated in the Zsuzsanna Lorántffy mentoring programme

In the Zsuzsanna Lorántffy Mentorship Program, two of our institute’s researchers, Réka Csepeli and Viktória Lilla Pató, also took part, teaching Hungarian language and literature as well as English. The initiative, which aims to support Hungarian communities beyond the borders, has just closed the most successful semester in its history.

In the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, the mentors meet their assigned students from Transylvania online for one hour each week. The voluntary teaching activity involves students typically between grade five of elementary school and 16 years of age, living in towns and villages where these sessions not only support catching up with schoolwork or, in some cases, talent development, but also create value in other areas of life.

Being a mentor is a challenge, as it requires flexibility, mastering new materials and new methodological approaches. At the same time, the value created through this process, and the journey we take together with the students, also enriches us. That is why we encourage everyone who can to join the program, which from September will be extended beyond Transylvania to also include Felvidék (Southern Slovakia) and Subcarpathia (Western Ukraine). Within this expanded framework, we will support students in mathematics, English, Hungarian, IT, history, and German – in areas where knowledge truly has the power to shape lives.
