On 6–9 August 2025, our colleagues and EURODOC delegates Rawand Ben Brahim and Anna Taraczközi took part in the EURODOC Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Copenhagen, representing DOSZ (the Association of Hungarian PhD and DLA Candidates).
What is EURODOC?
EURODOC, the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers, is a network of national associations across Europe dedicated to improving the conditions of doctoral education, research careers, and academic environments. It serves as a voice for early-career researchers in European-level policy discussions.
This year’s conference, Breaking Barriers: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Academia, explored how inclusive academic communities can strengthen both the quality and integrity of research. Through panels, workshops, and discussions, participants addressed challenges such as integration of international doctoral students, mentorship, mental health, intercultural engagement, and democratic backsliding in higher education.
During the AGM, delegates reviewed achievements from the past year, adopted key statements, and set the direction for the 2025/26 term. Among the highlights is the Statement on Equality in Academia: the first comprehensive Eurodoc position addressing structural inequalities and intersecting barriers faced by early-career researchers.
As part of the programme, our colleague Rawand Ben Brahim gave a keynote presentation “Building Bridges: Integration and Diversity in the DOSZ Ambassador Programme in Hungary,” highlighting Hungary’s initiatives to promote inclusion and intercultural engagement in academic communities, serving as an example of a best practice for other countries. Both Rawand and Anna contributed to the AGM discussions and elections for the new Eurodoc administration for 2025/26.
